Professor, please, time to return to Substack.

Time to leave the vainglorious NYT. They are such bigots: curating narrative, curtailing actual debate, professing authority and so very superior. The “Elect” incarnate, they despise their fellow Americans.

Not good people, think of your grandparents, what would they say!

John, I just finished listening to the latest podcast between you and Glenn. I can hear the sense of weariness and sadness in both of your voices. The word despondent was used a couple of times at the end there. Please know that you are both doing great, you are the ones that really care about improving the life circumstances and outcomes for African-Americans, and it is working. I truly believe that it is. It’s just not the kind of thing that you can see the progress of very clearly in real time. But more and more people are beginning to see it, what you are doing matters, and it is making a difference and is going to make peoples lives better. Chin up, get some rest, and keep it going.

I bought the t-shirt, John. It's on my wall, visible from Zoom.

I hope your hiring at the NYT is a sign of their recovering from wokeitude, but we'll see. Meanwhile, Freddie de Boer.

Dear Dr. McWhorter. Good luck. Geez I subscribe to the LATimes just to read Jonathan Goldberg and George Skelton (and sometimes Steve Lopez when he still contributes.) Guess I'm going to have to subscribe to the NYT to read you and try to parse through the rest of the "reporting" there. Or save time and just read you. However I do start to have hope when a fine mind like yours is being recruited by TNYT!

I have been so enlightened and enriched by your books and other output, that I don't even mind.

Good luck, and be sure to come back and tell us when they cross the line-like asking you to write a hagiographic piece on Adam Schiff or co-hosting a regular podcast on race with Don Lemon or Joy Reid hahahahahah!

I give it six months. Again, good luck.

Thank you for braving the woke media in an attempt to shine a light for their readers to see what is going on. Take care, and best wishes.

Please send me a pro-rated refund. NYT isn't a paper I read, perhaps you could go to work for the Atlantic or something, your talent would go better there, anyways.

Yes, please send me a prorated refund. Thank you.

Hi John,

I would like to move my subscription moneys over to Glenn's patreon. Let me know what to do next!

Congrats on the NY Times gig. I won't be subscribing, but that's because I'm already in your choir. But certainly your voice over there is more important with regard to its potential impact. I look forward to your book, and your return here, whenever that may be!

Cheers!

Hi, is there a link to a feed, so we can follow your articles on the NYT? Ezra Klein has one, so I know it's possible, but you might have to specifically ask for one.

This makes me think that there may actually be HOPE for the Grey Lady after all. I do wonder if the snowflakes on staff at the Times won't lose their minds and protest the hiring of such a Clayton Bixby

Just read what I think are John's comments for the book jacket of Michael Shellenberger's new book, San Fransicko. Made me hopeful that brave voices who are true to the values that liberals once stood for may still be able make themselves heard on platforms other than Substack. Also made me realize that I have to get past my own disgust at what the NYT has become. If the NYT can be a vehicle by which the likes of John McWhorter and Michael Shellenberger reach people, maybe there is hope.
